ASE SEND programme online for Autumn 2024
We are delighted to introduce a series of 5 SEND modules for autumn term 2024.
About the SEND Programme
Each module in the series is presented by Rob Butler, an experienced science teacher in both the primary and 11-19 age ranges, and a SEND specialist.
Module 1 Tuesday 1st October: SEND strategies in the classroom
This is the first webinar in our SEND Programme for the autumn term 2024. Let's dive in with this introductory webinar. Explore with us what cognitive science can tell us about supporting our SEND pupils in our classroom. How can we scaffold learning and use adaptive teaching? And what are the implications for curriculum planning? This webinar will set the scene for the rest of the SEND programme. Attendance at this webinar is not compulsory for the rest of the webinar series but we hope that you will join us for all 5 sessions.
Module 2 Wednesday 16th October: SEND In your classroom
How can we meet the needs of the individuals in our classrooms? We'll explore some specific learning needs with real-life case studies. You will leave with ready-to-implement ideas. This is the second webinar in our SEND Autumn 2024 programme.
Module 3 Thursday 14th November: SEND – language and oracy
Communication is key to progress in science and can present challenges for all students. Join Rob to explore techniques for success with scientific vocabulary, reading and writing. This is the third webinar in our Autumn 2024 SEND programme.
Module 4 Tuesday 26th November: Teaching resources for SEND
How can we meet the needs of the individuals in our classroom and make learning more accessible through our resources? How can we work with other adults in the room to support individuals? Join Rob Butler as we explore these important aspects of our science teaching. This is the fourth webinar in our SEND Autumn 2024 Programme.
Module 5 Wednesday 11th December: Practical work and SEND
Practical work can present extra challenges for some students. Let's explore how we plan for practical work, the role of the demonstration, being purposeful in our practical work and strategies to support practical work. This is the fifth and final webinar in our SEND Autumn 2024 programme.
