The two latest releases from Millgate, Wow, but why? and Discovering Science, were created specifically to help teachers plan practical activities when faced with time constraints. Both books - which cover all primary years and biology, chemistry, and physics for ages 11-14 - are structured to allow teachers to be able to flick through and easily implement effective science activities from any page they may land on.

Wow! But why? is packed full of activities and ideas for educators working across the full primary age range who want to give their science lessons the ‘wow factor’ while still making sure they are meaningful learning experiences.
This book includes links to national curricula, as well as STEM-based careers, to further encourage how children might transfer the skills they learn in the classroom to the real world. Each tried and tested activity includes an explanation of the science behind the phenomenon, possible links to primary science knowledge and skills, and information on how the activity relates to children’s own lives, as well as the global community.

Each topic and section is formatted to make it easy for secondary science teachers to dip in and out of the book when they need to. Many of the activities offer novel, hands-on, minds-on ways for students to explore scientific ideas and phenomena, and each has been ‘tried and tested’ in the classroom.
