Help shape the future of the Association

ASE is a membership organisation and our Trustee Body, overarching Education Group and other committees are critical to the way in which the Association is run. Far more happens ‘behind the scenes’ than you may be aware. This is an exciting time to get involved. We are developing a significant number of plans for the future relating to how we want to support the science education community in moving forwards to ensure excellence in science education for all.

Members tell us that becoming involved in one of our committees has enabled them to get far more out of their membership than the more obvious benefits of receiving journals and attending conferences and events. Belonging to a committee will give insights into the wider perspective beyond your own school or institution, indeed many of our committee members also comment on how much they have learned from their experience and value the support they have received from committee colleagues (and often friends).

We understand the challenging times that we live in and how busy our members are in their professional and personal lives. Our committees meet three times a year, with two online meetings and one face-to-face. However, we do not want distance or travel to be a factor in committee membership, so a hybrid facility is offered for all face-to-face meetings. Committee members’ contributions between meetings will vary depending upon the amount of time that they are personally able to commit. There are opportunities to develop new skills such as presenting, writing, speaking at events, on webinars or in podcasts.
