Millgate House Education and bookstore sale announcement
Following a review of ASE’s publishing activity, we are pleased to announce the sale of Millgate House Education Ltd and ASE Bookstore to L & M Education Ltd, owned by ASE’s former Publications Manager, Laura Townsend.
The sale of Millgate House enables ASE to streamline operations and focus our resource and expertise on our long term strategic goals: delivering high quality CPD, fostering communities of professional support, and advocacy for excellence in science education.
Laura Townsend ran ASE’s publishing arm, for three years, and has ambitious plans for the future whilst continuing to prioritise high quality educational and science texts. Millgate will continue to be the trading name for the company.
We are pleased to confirm that as part of the new collaborative relationship with Millgate, ASE members will continue to receive discounts on ASE and Millgate Publications through the book shop as they do now. Millgate will continue to have a stand at Annual Conference and we will continue to host links on our website straight through to Millgate’s website for ease of access.
Lynn Ladbrook CEO of ASE says, “Entrusting trading activities to an external partner means we are able to streamline our own operations, reduce costs and free up resources to concentrate on our core mission. By selling Millgate to a trusted partner with whom we already have a close working relationship, ASE will continue to be able to sign post authors and offer discounts to members.”
Laura Townsend, owner of L&M Education said “It is an exciting time for Millgate, and I am excited to both continue and grow the portfolio of high-quality publications for science educators we offer. I am delighted we can continue to work closely with ASE and its members. I am looking forward to developing new publications that can support the science education community.”
Whilst communications about the future activity and ongoing business of Millgate House Education will now come from Millgate directly, we have prepared the following FAQs around the sale and transfer of activity and will be working together to ensure that the transition is smooth for all concerned parties.
ASE’s flagship journals are separate and not part of Millgate’s activity.
