Association for Science Education launches new brand identity

As our streamlined new membership structure launches, we are delighted to be able to bring you more exciting news in the form of a fresh new look for the Association for Science Education!

It has been more than ten years since the association’s visual identity – long-term logo notwithstanding – was last updated, and as the nature of our activities, particularly in the digital sphere, has evolved so has the need to ensure how we present ourselves to both our membership and the wider science education community.

Sitting at the heart of the redesign is our new logo – a contemporary take on the traditional ASE reflective ambigram that has served the association proudly for so long. It took a long time to come up with something that we felt retained the heritage of our past, yet represents a vibrant, exciting future.

Various shapes, styles and colours from the logo will feed into our wider visual identity, so look out for our newly-named “sharp-edged lozenge” and “exclamation mark pointer” over the coming weeks as our new branding is gradually rolled out across all ASE platforms – such as our social media and email communications, ASE journals and publications and, of course, the ASE website.

ASE Chief Executive Lynn Ladbrook said: “The old ASE logo will be remembered fondly by many, having graced our journals and publications for over 50 years.  However, I’m thrilled to see this new identity role out across the Association.  The vibrant colour palette, contemporary font and dynamic graphic style will offer more versatility across our digital assets and firmly brings the Association up to date.  I’m particularly pleased with this iteration of the ASE logo as it bridges the past and present, paying homage to our heritage while boldly embracing the exciting possibilities ahead.”
