Description

Box Rock Circus was built in the village of Box in southern England in the summer of 2012 as part of the Queen's Diamond Jubilee celebrations, as an educational and recreational resource. Despite support from the parish council and the village, obtaining funding was laborious but eventually successful. The Circus provides full facilities for rock identification for children aged 7 to 14, demonstrates the movement of Britain through geological time, showcases the famous local building stone and has high-quality fossil casts for rubbings. It is possible for any science teacher anywhere to plan an exciting outdoor lesson based on the ideas in this article.
