Changing future teachers' perceptions of scientists using digital storytelling
Issue 332 | Page 109 | Published Mar 2009
Description
Students' images of scientists are often influenced by the common stereotype of a white male wearing a lab coat and glasses. Teachers' views of science and scientists may influence those of the students they teach. It is therefore important that any intuitive perceptions held by trainee teachers of scientists as white males are corrected. In this study, trainee teachers were asked to create digital stories using computer-based multimedia during a secondary science education course at a university.
