Description

As a result of collaboration between the Nuffield Curriculum Centre (now Programme) and the UK science subject societies, three websites for teachers focusing on practical work are now established on the Internet: Practical Physics, Practical Chemistry and Practical Biology. All three sites provide detailed instructions, edited by experienced subject teachers, on how to carry out a wide range of demonstrations and class experiments, together with the relevant technical and health and safety advice, teaching notes and other resource material to enable teachers, including non-specialists, to carry out practical work confidently in most school laboratories. This article describes their contents with a focus on the chemistry site, feedback received and future plans.
