School Science Review 381 Science education and nature
Issue 381 | Published June 2021
Overview
For many people, one of the silver linings of the past year has been the opportunity to engage with the natural world in their local area. Visits to shops and restaurants have been replaced with walks around parks and woodlands, while stories have hit the news of wildlife benefiting from quieter towns and roads, including wild goats roaming Llandudno and deer walking around East London. In this issue of SSR, you will find a wealth of support, guidance and inspiration on how to engage students with nature. Other articles cover topics including developing mathematical skills, computer programs to assess student understanding, summative assessment, and the importance of language in communicating knowledge and understanding.
